Open gaps
Three tiers, one registry.
Verified gaps are the on-ramp. Systematic scans expand coverage. Frontier cases are reference material — closed to new attempts in Phase 1 but kept in the registry as proof the model also works at the edge.
Tier 1 — Verified
Known gap, high confidence. A specific record is missing from a canonical database, with a paper that should fix it. 1–2 hours to a finished contribution.
Haplography in Longinus, On the Sublime §9.4
Roberts 1907 edition retains Φλωρεντιανέ with crux — Russell 1964 emends to Τερεντιανέ, Halliwell 2023 proposes Φλῶρε. Perseus text lacks apparatus noting 100+ years of editorial debate.
Language ident typo: grec → grc in tlg0033
XML language identifier uses 'grec' instead of ISO 639-2 standard 'grc' for Ancient Greek. Same bug class as PR #1848.
Xingxiulong — entire genus missing from PBDB
Xingxiulong chengi (Wang et al. 2017) and X. yueorum (Chen et al. 2025) — two sauropodomorph species from the Lufeng Formation, Yunnan. Zero PBDB occurrence records despite 9-year gap since type species description.
DoAr 25 — missing bibliography links in SIMBAD
DoAr 25, a young T Tauri star in ρ Ophiuchi, has 6+ catalog aliases (2MASS, Gaia, WISE). ALMA papers from post-2015 are partially unlinked to the SIMBAD entry.
Protein annotation gap in UniProt
Recent experimental characterization paper (2024) describes protein function, but the UniProt entry remains unreviewed in TrEMBL.
Tier 2 — Systematic
Batch scan of a region of the data. Multi-session work that produces a structured audit. Phase 1.5+.
Lufeng Formation coverage audit
Scan all described sauropodomorphs from the Lower Jurassic Lufeng Formation. Xingxiulong (E1) suggests systematic under-coverage of Chinese taxa.
ρ Ophiuchi star formation region — alias coverage audit
For all T Tauri stars in the ρ Ophiuchi cloud complex (~80 candidates), audit whether SIMBAD entries correctly link all catalog aliases and recent ALMA/VLT bibliography.
Tier 3 — Frontier
Answer unknown. The session itself is the artifact, including dead ends. Closed to new attempts in Phase 1; reference cases only.
